Introducing: Saving Custom Settings

You asked, we listened. This season we’ve been working hard on introducing one of our most highly requested features, the ability to save custom settings. When logged into your account you’ll have the ability to save league settings for your custom leagues this season to make it quicker and easier to access projections during drafts and in season that are custom tailed to your league settings.

First log into your account.  Then input your league settings and click on “Create Custom Settings” under “Settings”.  You’ll be able to create and save one custom setting with a free account, and unlimited custom settings with an FFA Insider subscription.

Then name your custom settings and click “Save”.

After creating custom settings, you can update custom settings by making edits to the custom settings, and then click on “Save Custom Settings” under “Settings.”

Loading Custom Settings

The next time you open the app, you will be able to load these custom scoring settings under the “League Settings”. Make sure to select your newly custom setting in the “League Scoring” dropdown box.

Tried everything there. Incognito, in private with explorer, cleared cache. No luck. When the sign in box pops up and I input my credentials, nothing happens. It just sits there. No errors, no action.

Projections tool. I am on a samsung laptop, maybe 4 years old. Newest windows OS. I click sign in on the upper right corner, and nothing happens. No errors, nothing. Also tried my GF’s Surface Pro with the same result. Tried on Chrome and Edge. Will try again today in incognito after reading the post below.

Just noticed something I didn’t before. There are error messages coming up, they are just down in the bottom right corner that you don’t see without scrolling down the page to find them. They are out of sight, not near the sign in box that pops up. You have to scroll below the visual page to see it.

Now my device has been blocked.

          • Isaac Petersen says:

Every time I edit the scoring settings it deletes all the auction pricing. I did some trial and error and it only happens when I edit the scoring. If I edit any of the other setting options the auction prices remain.

Isaac, can you only create custom settings for one league? Or is there a way to create multiple leagues? I was able to create one but now when I try to add another it won’t let me, but I can delete my custom settings.

    Hi Isaac,

It doesn’t seem to be saving “Number Teams” and “Roster Size” under league settings.

Should it also be saving anything under General settings? We do not have any IDPs in our league and I keep unchecking them every time.

There seems to be a bug when I change scoring settings by position. For example, my league has custom points per reception depending on position. It’s -.8 for RB, -.9 for TE, -1 for WR; all have 4 pts per TD. When I go into my scoring settings, after already having entered them earlier, it first shows up with RB as the selected position, but all the things are back at default (0 PPR, 6 pts for TD). Then i go to WR, and it’s all correct. I go to TE, all correct, go to RB, and now it’s all correct. But the first time it shows up it shows it incorrectly. Any idea what this is? It’s not showing up correctly til I cycle through.

Any way to read my account’s league settings using R scripts? Looks like the League Settings.R script is from 2013 and I’ll have to figure out how to manually update for my league(s). I don’t see things like Flex positions, I don’t see the current projection weights so I’ll have to manually update the script. Would be nice if I could simply read my settings from my account instead of hardcoding them into the script. Recommendations?

Do your projections, vor, ecr, and all use the “R” script? Or is it something we need to do to customize? This is all new to me ans wasn’t sure if I needed to learn it or just use what your projections put out after I input my league’s settings. Thanks….looks like a great site so far.

The projection results are displayed in a Shiny app that is built on R code. We don’t currently have a mobile app, but can add that to our to-do list!

Disregard my previous comment. I’ve figured it out. I logged out and logged back in, and used google in incognito mode. This is really great! I will subscribe for sure!
My only concern is that there is considerable lag when making changes to the set-up. I fear it might not function so well in a live draft. But no matter, as I can just create a printed list and work from that old-school. Thank you again!

    Hi Issac,
Great app! Each time that I go to change from the 2017 projections to weekly projections I am getting “error missing true/false”. Is this because it is too early for week by week projections or is this something that I am inputting incorrectly?
Thanks for all of the great work!

My league scoring doesn’t start until RB/WR has at least 25 yards. 0-24 = 0, 25-49 = 4, 50-74 = 8 and so on. Custom settings converts input of 4 points per 25 yds to 1 per 6.25 yds, which does not reflect my leagues scoring. Also tried to “simulate” league yards scoring by using decimal values in the points column to no avail. Any ideas how I can handle my leagues non traditional scoring yards ranges?

This should have a similar cumulative affect for season projections but you will definitely see more variation week to week. For example, Julio Jones is projected 1511 yards for the season but we would not expect him to hit a 94.5 yard average every week.

Val, I have tried these steps multi times. On the testing section for ad blockers if the page that fires says “You are blocking my beautiful adverts, you swine!” does that mean I still have something turned on that is blocking something on the app. I have looked multiple times and I have the setting for pop-ups is set to allow.

Hi, I am having problems saving my custom settings (They are grayed out).
    Tried:
    – Login/logout
    – Incognito mode on chrome
    – Firefox instead of chrome
    – Deleting the custom settings I was able to create (just wasn’t able to save any changes to them) and recreating them.
    – Making the changes I want and then creating the custom settings/or the other way around
    – Removing the “Disabled” class from the client side and clicking it anyway.
    Nothing worked.
I Don’t see any client side errors in the console.

I created and saved my custom settings several weeks ago. Over the past few weeks I’ve been able to successfully load my custom settings anytime I’ve tried. Today suddenly I get an error every time I try to load my custom settings. The error is “Disconnected from the server.” and there is a Reload link under the message. I click the Reload link and it just reloads the default rankings (my settings are not loaded).

I have tested on Firefox, Chrome and Safari across multiple computers running both Mac and Windows and it’s the same error every time. I open League Settings, select my custom settings from the list, click Save and immediately see the error.

Yea, same problem here. I kind of wish the creators would link the specific settings that work for them, because so far it has not been working on a wide combination of systems for me.

Windows 7, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Internet Explorer -> All cause the app to disconnect and reload the default settings as soon as custom settings are selected.

Windows 10, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Internet Explorer -> All cause the app to disconnect and reload the default settings as soon as custom settings are selected.

Tried on 3 different networks. 3 different computers, 4 different browsers, all adblockers disabled.

I am still having the same problem saving settings. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. It appears that every league setting defaults to 10 team league no matter what. I can switch it to 12, save it, and it doesn’t save. Sometimes I can save scoring settings, and other times, when I log back in, they are not saved, while I can save the league name, the settings associated with it, are all defaults.
It’s too bad, I really would like to use this.

This is not working at all for me after multiple tries. Clicking on the name for my saved settings does not load the saved settings at all. One of my league has a very complicated, unique set of scoring that literally takes me 15 minutes to type in.

I’m having the same issue as the users above where the scoring settings aren’t saved.

    1) Browser: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge (no ad-blockers, JavaScript is enabled)
    2) OS: Windows 10 Pro
    3) Error: No error messages, but scoring settings aren’t saved in the custom settings
    4) How to reproduce: Change scoring settings (e.g. change passing interceptions from -3 to -2), click “Save” on the Scoring Settings page, go to Settings -> Save Custom Settings, name the custom setting and click “Save”, refresh the page. Once the page reloads, go to Settings -> League Settings and select the custom setting under League Scoring. The changes made previously don’t show up under Scoring Settings.

          https://fantasyfootballanalytics.net/2017/08/introducing-saving-custom-settings.html

Are you clicking “Save Custom Settings” or just “Save Settings” on the league setting dialog? The latter does not create a custom setting and will revert to default upon return. You will need to save custom Settings in order to be able to recall those from the league setting menu.

If it’s still not working, please provide the info we request in order to be able to reproduce:

            Thanks,
Using the instructions I finally understood that it does not load my default settings when I start the app, and I need to load it.
It looks like it is working well.
            Thanks!

Is there a way to save “players taken”? Pre-draft I would like to exclude players and save it. Then come back later when the draft starts. Thanks.

Is there a way to customize what columns are displayed and save them.? Right now when you select/deselect columns they are not saved after you click a player or exclude them. Screen resets back to the default columns list. Thanks

    Hi Isaac,

I’m having trouble with this function. I’m currently paying $5 for FFA Insider but am unable to save custom settings for even 1 league. It allows me to change the settings but as soon as I hit save custom settings the app disconnects me, gives a transparent gray screen, and gives me an error in the bottom right of the screen “Disconnected from the server. Reload.” At one point it even say, “Please log in to use this function,” even thought I was. Please help!

Hey. I’m playing in a league with a lot of differences to scoring. When I try to save the scoring settings, I get a “Disconnected from the server” message, with the option to reload. Every time. I can create a new league, but it won’t let me get all of the scoring settings input before giving me the “Disconnected from the server” message.
