Uploading Custom Auction Values

We are excited to announce the addition of another highly requested feature this season, the ability to upload custom auction values to our Lineup Optimizer.

How To

1) To add your own auction values first download the custom cost template CSV.

2) Then populate with your own inputs.  Missing values or missing rows will default to the preset value for your chosen settings.  That is, players’ costs will not be over-written if they are blank or missing in the custom cost file that you upload.

3) Then go to “Auction Settings” and pick “yes” under the “Use Custom Costs Values?” settings and select your updated custom cost CSV.  This will upload your own values into our Optimizer and let you customize further for players you believe are under- or over-valued in your league.

Using “cost” to mean “value” throughout your apps is very confusing! Cost typically means what one actually paid for something, not its theoretical expected value.

Actually, I have no idea what “cost” is supposed to mean in your app. No matter what sources I change for projections, Martavis Bryant’s “cost” remains $7. His total pts. change appropriately, but cost remains static. I thought the idea was to give the user the true value of a given player based on his position and projected points. What am I missing?

Under “How It Works” we describe the adjustments made to AAV to get to Cost: https://fantasyfootballanalytics.net/2013/06/win-your-fantasy-football-auction-draft.html

Can you please clarify your actual question?

We calculate a player’s cost by deflating/inflating the adjusted AAV according to your inputs.

Weird. when I go to http://apps.fantasyfootballanalytics.net/?app=lineupoptimizer, and change the League Cap to 150, the AAV doesn’t change! It seems like one of the core functions of an app would be to adjust the AAV to reflect your league configuration.

Average auction value is a constant that is independent of league settings. AAV is calculated by averaging the auction values across multiple sites. The cost column, on the other hand, is based on AAV and changes based on your settings; the cost is an estimate of how much a player is expected to go for in your particular draft. So, when you change the league cap to 150, the AAV doesn’t change, but the cost does.

Looks like the apps are back up, but whenever I try to save my auction settings after uploading custom values, it disconnects from the server.

Same for me, it hangs up once I upload the Use Custom Cost Values and then click “Save Auction Settings”
