2022 Projections & FFA App Updates

This offseason, we worked hard to update our FFA Projection and Lineup Optimizer apps. We are excited to provide the apps to our subscribers to test out and provide feedback. You can access the new app at the link below:

Preview of new web app

App Improvements

We rebuilt the app using Golem in R/Shiny to create a much faster and more dynamic app experience during drafts. We worked hard to optimize the app to improve loading and computation times, which should result in an overall smoother experience and make it easier to use and to update lineups quickly.

Features

This new app has a similar feature set as the original FFA apps but should be faster to load and update scoring settings using the “Calculate Projections” button when scoring and lineup settings are changed.

Feedback

We have greatly improved the apps over the years in response to feedback from our users. Give it a test run and let us know your thoughts in the comments (or via our Google form for bug reporting)!

woot comments working again, I had a few questions with the custom rankings.

-Seems that QB’s are all in the top 23/25 rankings. Was there a change in the positional weighting from previous years? I’ve tried using different league settings and it has no impact. Normally you don’t see QB’s in the top 10-15 with the exception of outliers.
-Second in past years there was a extended data download option that included additional player metrics like auction price, etc.

      Good questions:
      1) If you are sorting players by projected points, yes, QBs are generally projected to score the most points. If you sort players by VOR (which is more relevant for rankings), QBs are not all at the top. I’d encourage you to sort players by VOR. We are working to make VOR the default sorting method.
      2) We are working on this!

Hey Isaac. I also noticed the Rank field is gone. Is it correct that the rank was just based on VoR? So sorting by VoR will be the same as sorting by rank used to be?

Hello Scott. VOR is what I always use to rank players because it compares the value of individual players. Hope that helps.

Hi, love the site, it is super helpful. A couple of things with the app:
    1) Projections, either in the table or in the downloaded file, aren’t available for the choice of ALL players if I make any change in settings. So if I change from the default league to anything else, the download file no longer populates (only a header row) and the table for ALL players is empty
    2) Can you add back the time-stamp that shows when the projections were last updated? Super helpful for knowing when (or not) to re-download projections.
    3) Doesn’t seem like custom scoring settings change the projections, would have thought they would.

    Thanks for your help!

What’s the status of this – long time subscriber despite bugs but this is basically unusable right now if I cannot download actual projection data

Is there (or are you working on) a way to import projections from either a site that isn’t already included, or an .xls or .csv file?

Love your app… been using it for years! The problem I’m having with the auction lineup optimizer is I am unable to edit the salary I ‘paid’ for a player so the optimizer can recalculate the best lineup remaining with the salary $ I have remaining. Is there something I’m missing in the app that allows this functionality? That was so huge for tracking things during the draft. Thanks!

Trying to use the basic Snake Draft Optimizer but it will only show me the top 10 players, regardless of how many (10, 25, 50) entries I select to show on the dropdown. Also, when I try to exclude a player, they are not actually removed from the projection list. I haven’t used the site since last year’s draft so maybe I’m forgetting something. How can I see the full, league projection? Do I need a paid subscription? Thanks for your help!

This is an excellent site and tons of great data. Can you help me understand the column headers in the projections? Specifically the SD, Uncertainty, VOR and Drop Off columns. I have a pretty good idea what they mean but not 100% sure.
    Thanks!

Hello, thanks again for the recent update. How do you get auction price into the sheet? is it a specific version or setting?

    Hello!
I’ve been using this for years and it is great! One question… How do you keep the session from disconnecting from the server? Is there a set point where it timeouts?

I always have this anxiety that in the middle of the draft it will disconnect and I will lose all of the players I have already drafted and marked (auction draft) and all of the player already selected by others.

Whats up with defense scoring? No place to add in points allowed ranges? Making the defense scoring skewed
